The short version
When you pay on Vergeo5, your money does not go straight to the vendor. It is held safely in escrow — a protected holding account — until you confirm that your order arrived. Only then do we release the funds to the vendor.

This is the single most important thing to understand about buying on Vergeo5: you are never sending money and simply hoping a stranger delivers.
Why escrow matters in Zambia
Buying online usually means trusting someone you have never met. Escrow removes that risk. The vendor knows the money is real and waiting, so they are motivated to ship quickly. You know the vendor cannot disappear with your cash, because Vergeo5 is holding it until you are satisfied.
How it works, step by step
- You pay. Choose mobile money, card, or cash on delivery for smaller orders. Your
payment is captured and moved into escrow, not to the vendor.
- We hold the funds. Your order status shows Held by Vergeo5. The vendor can see
that payment is secured and prepares your order.
- The vendor ships or prepares pickup. You receive updates on WhatsApp and SMS as the
status changes.
- You receive your order. For delivery, you confirm receipt. For pickup, you show your
QR code and PIN.
- Funds are released. Once delivery is confirmed — or after the automatic confirmation
window — we release the money to the vendor and pay them out.
When are funds released?
Escrow releases on delivery confirmation. To keep things moving, there are automatic fallbacks:
- 48 hours after an order is marked delivered, it auto-confirms if you have not already.
- 7 days after shipping is the final fallback if a delivered status was never recorded.
You can always confirm early once your order arrives — that releases the vendor's payout faster and helps small businesses.
What if something goes wrong?
This is exactly what escrow is for. If your item is faulty, wrong, or not as described, report it within 48 hours with a photo. Because your money is still held by Vergeo5, we can issue a full refund from escrow — you are not chasing the vendor for your money back. If funds have already been released, refunds are still honoured — we recover them from the vendor's next payouts.
Does escrow cost me anything?
No. Escrow protection is built into every order at no extra charge to you. Vendors pay a small commission on completed sales, shown to them before they publish a listing.
